In the province of Malaga lies a small town, with a Castle on the Hill. This small town in the heart of the tranquil region of Guadalteba is called  Teba.  Teba possesses a rich medieval past, as can be seen with its Castle which towers over the town and its many small palaces and majestic houses.

One singular historical event  led to Teba being twinned with the Scottish Town of Melrose. Come and discover one of the most famous and epic stories that happened in Malaga. Discover the true story of Braveheart and the exploits of Sir James Douglas, who fought in the battle of Teba alongside The Christian Army, commanded by the Castilian King Alfonso XI, to take the strategic Castillo de la Estrella from the Muslim King.  Sir James lost his life during this battle whilst carrying The Heart of the Scottish King Robert The Bruce.  25th August is the anniversary of Sir James death.

After finding the body of Douglas and The Royal Heart on the battlefield, both were taken back to Scotland and were buried in The Abbey in Melrose.

Come and join us in this years celebration of Scottish Douglas Evening, with a large Scottish representation attending the event.
