Castellar Zoo is a privately run Animal Rescue Center, more a sanctuary than a zoo.  Opened to the public in 2002, it was founded to help animals  siezed by the authorities.  Animals being imported illegally through the black market with no licence, also animals  abandoned and abused.

Today the Rescue Centre is an interactive,  uncommercialised  sanctuary.  Unforgettable memories are made between  visitor and animals.

Approximately 3 hours to enjoy this zoo. A small cafe serves a small selection of drinks and ice creams.  Picnic areas are provided.

The next stop is Duquesa Port  with its many bars and restaurants .
