Castellar Zoo is a privately run Animal Rescue Centre, more a sanctuary than a zoo.  You never know what animal you are going to meet!!  Opened to the public in 2002, it was founded to help animals  seized by the authorities.  Animals being imported illegally through the black market with no licence, also animals  abandoned and abused.

Today the Rescue Centre is an interactive,  uncommercialized  sanctuary.  Unforgettable memories are made between  visitor and animals.

The Lioness Cub is now too big to pet, but you could have an Eagle fly to you, stroke a baby kangaroo or even pet a snake….

Approximately 2 1/2 hours to enjoy this rescue centre. A small cafe serves a small selection of drinks and ice creams.  Picnic areas are provided.

The next stop is Duquesa Port  with its many bars, restaurants and relaxing atmosphere
