Nestled in the Northern Edge of The Malaga Mountains we find the lovely village of Colmenar.

Colmenar gained its name from an estate called “Colmena” which produced honey.  “Colmena” in Spanish means beehive.   The Honey Museum is open for visits at 2€ or you can take the guided tour, approx 1  1/2 hours 6€.  At the end of the tour, you will receive a gift.  Other  products local to Colmenar, aside from honey, are Olive Oil, Bakery, fresh milled flour, natural sugars and woven products like baskets, mats and carpets made from natural fibres like esparta grass.

We then leave Colmenar and take the scenic journey to The Lakes, El Chorro.  Here you can sit and absorb the spectacular scenery,  see the Kings House where Princess Diana once stayed and eat in one of the restaurants.  Price  16€ without Tour  22€ with tour
