TARIFA, set amongst stunning beaches with its Castillo de Guzman dating from the 10th Century is a very bohemian, cosmopolitan historical town.  It is the southernmost point of mainland Spain and Europe, only 14km separate Tarifa from Africa, through the Strait of Gibraltar.  Today Tarifa is world-famous for Kiting and Surfing.  It has one of the largest windfarms in Europe blending with the fabulous landscape. Historically Tarifa has suffered many conquests but has still managed to preserve its Old Arab Fortress.

In 2003 Tarifa was declared as a Site of Cultural Interest. Walk through The Puerta de Jerez, one of only four medieval entrances remaining, and you will find yourself in the old town, a densely packed maze of cobbled streets, pretty squares, artisan shops and whitewashed houses.  The central Square is Plaza de Santa Maria affectionately known as Plaza de la Ranita (Little Frog Square).  You’ll see why.
